Cruelty-free fashion is becoming a bigger and bigger trend, rising steadily over the last few years due to the popularity of both plant-based diets and environmental consciousness. There are cruelty-free alternatives for almost everything now (makeup and makeup brushes, clothing, furniture, handbags, etc.), which proves that you really don’t need to give anything up to go vegan!
The best part is that vegan leather is almost indistinguishable from real leather, which means awesome bags without the moral guilt (and without the crazy price tag!). Here’s a roundup of some of my favorite vegan handbag companies, along with some of my top picks for each brand!

Jeane & Jax is one of my personal favorites. Not only are their bags super cute, but they’re PETA approved and ethically sourced.

Pixie Mood is all about the fun, colorful bags that will actually hold up through the seasons. They offer a whole range of products, from small business card holders to crossbody bags and backpacks. Here are a few more of my favorites:
JW PEI is unique because they’re doing everything with recycled materials. Their bags are over 50% recycled (from water bottles!) now, and they’re planning on going 100% in the next two years. Their bags are cute, colorful, and conscious!
Melie Bianco is cruelty-free, fair trade, and PETA approved. Oh, and the handbags are so beautiful, you would never guess they’re not real leather. What more could you ask for! Here are a few more of my favorites:
Kelly Moore isn’t 100% vegan, but the vegan bags she does offer are ridiculous. I love them and I want them all!
Matt & Nat
Matt & Nat is a great company because they not only use vegan-friendly and cruelty-free materials, but they’re also eco-friendly and environmentally conscious. Here are a few more of my favorites:
Good Mood Moon
Good Mood Moon is an Etsy shop that I’m obsessed with. They sell the most awesome colorblock clutches and crossbody bags. Best of all, their bags are super affordable!
Happy Genie is a relatively new company (you can find them on Kickstarter!), but they are completely revolutionizing the game by creating the first ever handbag made from… apples. Yep, you read that correctly. They also allow complete customization because you can attach different patterned clutches to the front of the bag. I’m obsessed!
Urban Originals is a vegan leather handbag company selling a wide variety of handbags that are not only stylish, but also functional and practical. Here are a few more of my favorites:
